The Ride, the Village and What You Pay
What happens on the day, how long you are on the quad, what the price covers, who may drive and what reviewers say.
What happens on the day

Wild Desert Safari sends your pickup time by WhatsApp or email the day before; be ready ten minutes early. The transfer from a Hurghada hotel is free, and from Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna, Safaga or Soma Bay it costs extra, paid at checkout.
Its itinerary has about half an hour by car to the start, a 15-minute safety briefing, a 15-minute practice ride and two hours on the quad, then half an hour back. On the morning and sunset options you ride 40 km to a Bedouin village, where you see bread baked, drink Bedouin tea and take a camel ride. The BBQ option ends with dinner and an oriental show with Tanura and belly dancing.
On 27 November 2026, 20 January and 10 March 2027 the morning option left at 8:00 AM and ran 3 hours; the sunset options left at 1:00 PM and ran 3 hours, or 4.5 hours with the BBQ. One three-star reviewer on 14 October 2026 found the trip took at least five hours even without the BBQ.
One reviewer on 3 November warns that it is a stony desert rather than a sand desert, and that your thumb aches from the throttle after a while. Several call it very dusty and say the goggles and scarf, which are not in the price, are worth having.

What the price buys
The US$28 on the booking calendar is a from-price. On the three dates we read, the morning ride with a transfer was US$34.55 a person, the sunset ride US$37.90 and the sunset ride with the BBQ US$46.81; a private tour was US$67.99 for one adult (checked November 2026). Two adults paid twice the one-adult price.
That buys the transfer from a Hurghada hotel, a helmet, the instruction and practice ride, the 40 km ride, the village visit, the camel ride, Bedouin tea and bottled water, plus the dinner on the BBQ option. On top: a mandatory EUR 1 government fee a person, chosen at checkout, and the goggles and scarf if you want them. Reviewers in October 2026 give EUR 3 for the goggles and EUR 5 for the scarf; one in November found them cheaper on the spot than in the app. The quad bike price sets this safari against the cheaper rides and the full evenings.
Who may drive
On Wild Desert Safari’s trip, children aged 6 to 15 may not drive; from 16 they may drive on their own. It is not for children under 6 or pregnant women. Recent reviewers mention a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old riding as passengers. Other listings set the line differently: on Safari Sahara's ride, children under 17 may not drive alone. Age, licence and safety goes through every listing’s rules.
The camel ride
The camel ride is part of the village stop on the morning, sunset and BBQ options. Of the 350 most recent reviews (13 October to 7 November 2026), one, on 4 November, says the reviewer did not ride because she felt sorry for the camels, which had to stand up and sit down every three minutes to take a new rider, and protested a little; another, on 22 October, describes the camel as two minutes, for the photo. One reviewer on 3 November warns of camel handlers asking EUR 15 for a photo on a camel.
Other ways to ride
Safari Sahara's ride is from US$23: its cheapest option is an hour on the quad with transfers and no village. Ava Travel Service's Super Safari, from US$23, fills 7 hours with an ATV, a spider car, a jeep to a Bedouin village, a camel ride, a BBQ dinner and a show; two of its 350 most recent reviewers (11 September to 7 November 2026) complain about how the camels were treated. scorpionsafari's half-day pairs about 30 minutes on a quad with 15 in a buggy before a jeep ride to the village.
If your hotel is in Sahl Hasheesh, Sea Horse Sahl Hasheesh-Hurghada's ride starts from its garage there. From El Gouna, ALEX SAFARI EL GOUNA's sunset ride through the Dry Canyon is from US$62 (checked November 2026), for adults 18 to 60.
What reviewers mention
Wild Desert Safari’s safari has 4,063 reviews on GetYourGuide at an average of 4.9. We read the 350 most recent, the newest dated 7 November 2026 and the oldest 13 October: 319 give five stars and eight give three or fewer, two of them with a comment. One says the trip took at least five hours without the BBQ and the stop just before the village was only for photos; the other that helmets were compulsory for everyone except the guides. Among the five-star reviews, a family on 21 October asked to drop back because their 12-year-old, sharing a quad, found the pace too fast, and on 30 October a guide rode with a parent and their 10-year-old son for the whole trip after he had trouble.
Before you book
- Wear. Comfortable clothes and shoes that stay on; one reviewer warns flip-flops fly off, another not to wear your best clothes.
- Dust. Goggles and a scarf are not in the price; reviewers call them close to essential.
- Outside Hurghada. From Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna, Safaga or Soma Bay the transfer costs extra; pickup outside Hurghada compares the charges and the pickup complaints.
- Safety. The UK Foreign Office’s Egypt advice says there have been several serious quad bike accidents involving British nationals in resort areas, that safety standards vary considerably and to always wear a crash helmet (read 8 November 2026). Its list of areas to avoid, updated 27 October 2026, does not include Hurghada.
- Cancelling. Every GetYourGuide trip here can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before.
