Quad, Buggy or Jeep Safari from Hurghada?

Quad, buggy, spider car or jeep from Hurghada: what each vehicle is, how long you drive it, who may drive, what the jeep is for, and which safari suits a couple, a family or a solo rider.

Updated November 2026

On a Hurghada desert safari the quad is the vehicle you drive yourself, the buggy is a small off-road car some trips add for a short turn at the wheel, and the jeep, on the trips that have one, carries the group out to a Bedouin village. If you want to try both a quad and a buggy without paying for a whole evening, scorpionsafari’s Hurghada Desert Experience with Quad, Buggy & Camel, from US$40 a person (checked November 2026; US$44.59 on the January and March dates we read), gives you about 30 minutes on a quad and 15 in a buggy, depending on the option, then a jeep to the village.

Pick the option in the calendar: on the dates we read there were morning and afternoon tours, quad-only tours and one with stargazing. Hotel pickup is included, and you can cancel free until 24 hours before.

What each vehicle is

Quad (ATV). You drive it yourself, in a line behind a guide, after a briefing and a practice ride or a short test. Every safari here includes one: about two hours on Wild Desert Safari's, an hour on Safari Sahara's cheapest ride, about 30 minutes on scorpionsafari's.

Buggy. On scorpionsafari’s half-day, a buggy ride of about 15 minutes follows the quad, as a buggy driving experience in the options that include it. On the ride from Desert Fox Safari - Makadi Bay and Marsa Alam, a 30-minute buggy session is an add-on.

Spider car. Ava Travel Service's Super Safari adds a spider-car ride after the ATV, with helmets on both.

Jeep. On scorpionsafari’s half-day a 4x4 jeep covers about 25 km off road to the Bedouin village, with dune bashing on the way; on Ava Travel Service’s evening the jeep takes you to the village. Golden Map Tours' VIP desert safari has an ATV, a buggy and a jeep to the village, from US$25 (checked November 2026).
